Kia Soul security measures

So, I was chatting with my dad the other day, and we got on the topic of all those Kia Soul thefts happening, especially with the older models. You know, the whole steering column vulnerability thing.

He brought up how "back in the day" cars used to have these tough metal covers for the steering column and ignition, basically it's like a built in anti theft device.

We were thinking that seems like exactly what these KIAs need, since that's apparently the weak point.

We tried looking online, and shockingly, there's absolutely nothing like that available specifically for Kias!

Dad was like, "Let's fix that!" (He found something similar, the Lok-Itt P300, which gave us some ideas.)

Anyway, that got us thinking... Does anyone out there have a laser measurer for steering column dimensions on a Kia Soul?

We're totally brainstorming how we could actually make one of these. Also, if anyone has access to machinery to stamp metal, hit me up!

What do you guys think? Is this a good idea or not? Hit me up with your thoughts!

Cool, calipers will give you way better measurements than a laser. Nail that fit around the ignition and where it mounts, if you make one.

Are you thinking of designing it as a universal column guard that fits multiple Kia models, or making a Soul-specific version that locks down tighter and offers more theft deterrence?

A well designed, custom fit metal cover for the Kia soul steering column wouldn't just deter theft, it could also give owners peace of mind knowing their car's weak point is reinforced. If you go this route, sharing measurements, CAD sketches, or even 3D print prototypes could help others replicate or improve the idea safely
